Signing into Motivosity Using Single-Sign-On (SSO)

How Single Sign-On works with Motivosity, both sign-in routes, and what to do when SSO doesn't redirect you.

Overview

If your company uses Single Sign-On (SSO), you sign in to Motivosity with your company credentials rather than a separate Motivosity password. Your company may also have a custom Motivosity address, something like your-company.motivosity.com.

Two things are worth knowing up front, because they're the differences people notice most:

  • Your password isn't managed by Motivosity. Resetting a password in Motivosity won't change anything. Password resets happen on your company's own sign-in page.

  • You usually won't be asked for a confirmation code. SSO users skip the 6-digit code, unless they have Admin permissions.

How to sign in with SSO

There are two routes, and either works.

Option one: start at the standard Motivosity page

  1. Go to app.motivosity.com, enter your username, and click Next.

  2. One of two things happens:

    • You're redirected to your company's sign-in portal. Sign in with your company credentials and you'll be sent back to Motivosity.

    • If you're already signed in to your company account, you go straight into Motivosity.

Option two: start at your company's Motivosity address

  1. Go to your company's custom Motivosity address, usually your-company.motivosity.com. Your administrator can tell you the exact address, and it's worth bookmarking once you have it.

  2. Sign in with your company credentials on the page that loads.

  3. You'll arrive in Motivosity.

SSO isn't redirecting me, or I'm not getting signed in

If your company has SSO enabled but entering your username doesn't redirect you anywhere, and the page just returns you to the email or phone number field, this is the most common SSO problem and it has a specific cause.

It usually means the username you're entering isn't associated with a Motivosity account. Not that your password is wrong, and not that SSO is broken. Common reasons:

  • You have more than one work email and your account is under the other one

  • Your company changed its email domain

  • Your company uses your phone number or payroll ID as the username

What to try: enter any other addresses you might have been set up with. A colleague can look at your profile in Motivosity and tell you which email is on your account, and your administrator can confirm it as well.

Don't bother resetting your password for this one. It won't change anything, because the problem is which username you're using rather than which password.

Still not working?

Start a chat using the chat icon, or email support@motivosity.com. Let us know which address you're trying and what happens after you click Next, and we can check what username your account is actually under.
