Why Can't I Buy This Gift Card? (Disabled, Region, or Checkout Errors)

Understand why a gift card may be unavailable in your store, how regional restrictions work, and what to do if you hit a checkout error.

If you can't purchase a gift card in the Motivosity store, there are a few common reasons — and most have a straightforward fix.

The gift card is disabled in your store

Your company's Motivosity admin controls which gift cards are available to employees. If a card you're looking for isn't showing up, it may have been disabled.

Motivosity cannot enable or disable gift cards on your behalf — this is controlled by your company's admin. Reach out to your HR team or Motivosity admin and ask them to enable the card under Setup → Rewards → Inventory → eGift Cards.

Regional restrictions

Motivosity's gift card catalogue is powered by Tango Rewards, and available cards vary by country. Some cards are region-specific — for example, an Amazon.com card is for US customers, while Amazon.co.uk is for UK customers.

If you received a card for the wrong region (e.g. a US gift card but you're based in the UK):

  1. Contact Motivosity Support — in some cases, we can work with Tango Rewards to issue a replacement for the correct region.

  2. Ask your company admin to review which regional cards are enabled in Setup → Store → Manage E-Gift Cards.

If you encounter a country code error when trying to redeem an international gift card, this typically means the card is not valid in your region. Contact your admin to enable region-appropriate cards.

Checkout errors (insufficient funds or purchase limits)

You may hit a checkout error if:

  • You don't have enough spending balance to cover the gift card amount.

  • Your company has set a per-transaction or per-item limit for gift card purchases.

  • You're trying to purchase multiple gift cards in one checkout (some stores limit single-item checkout).

If you're hitting a purchase limit error:

  1. Try purchasing one gift card at a time rather than multiple in a single checkout.

  2. Check your current spending balance on your profile page.

  3. If the error persists, contact Motivosity Support with a screenshot of the error message so we can investigate.
